Frequently Asked Questions

Q: "How do I obtain a 9-1-1 Address for my new home or business?"
A: Contact the GIS Department as setting an address can be handled over the phone. Try to have the control number or tax map number available for you property when you call, as that will expedite the addressing process.
Q: "How do I verify my current 9-1-1 Address?"
A: Contact the GIS Department. All of the addressing is managed here geospatially and provided to the 9-1-1 Department.
Q: "Can I receive written verification of my 9-1-1 Address for the US Postal Service or creditors?"
A: Contact the GIS Department and request written verification of your address.
Q: "How do I name a road or driveway for my new subdivision?"
A: Contact the GIS Department. The GIS Department will verify the street name you are requesting is not in conflict with existing street names. A visit to the GIS Department will probably be required as they will need to verify the location of the new street to enter into the geospatial database.
Q: "Who do I speak with regarding my mail being delivered to the wrong address?"
A: Contact the US Postal Service via your local post master. The GIS Department and 9-1-1 Department are only responsible for establishing your physical address; the US Postal Service authorizes your mailing address.
